Gilmore Girls fans have often debated over which of Rory Gilmore's (Alexis Bledel) boyfriends, Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki), Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia), and Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry), was best suited for her.
While each of the three characters has their strengths and weaknesses, Gilmore Girls star Kelly Bishoprevealed whether she's Team Dean, Team Jess, or Team Logan. While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in October 2025, alongside her Gilmore Girls co-starsLauren Graham, Scott Patterson, and the show's creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, Bishop said she had a preference for Logan.
"There seems to have been a little competition ongoing about your favorite person to be with Rory. I didn't realize it was a little battle with the fans, but I'd always said Logan," said Bishop, who played Rory's grandmother, Emily Gilmore.
She then shared that she had an enjoyable time working with Czuchry, who joined the cast of Gilmore Girls during its 5th season, which premiered in 2004. She also noted that her high-society character had a preference for Logan, as he's from the wealthy and powerful Huntzberger family.
"I thought they were all really good, but the Logan character, and Matt Czuchry too, I just enjoyed his work so much, that it seems like the obvious thing," said Bishop to the publication. "Then later, I said to someone I hadn't really put it together, but that of course that's who Emily would have wanted. He came from a very good family, so that would have been a logical thing. But there was something about the way [Matt] delivered his lines when he was with Rory that was just very appealing to me."
Matt Czuchry Spoke About the Cliffhanger in 'Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life'
Gilmore Girls originally had a seven-season run until its 2007 finale. The show had a 2016 Netflix revival that consisted of four episodes, titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. During The Hollywood Reporter interview, Sherman-Palladino noted that the revival ended with Rory telling her mother, Lorelai Gilmore (Graham) that she was pregnant. However, Rory didn't reveal who the father of her child was.
Sherman-Palladino explained that revealing the child's paternity wasn't important in the story.
"The cliffhanger was intentional because the story was about history repeating itself and about mothers and daughters. It really to me was much less about who the boy was, but more about what the circumstance was," said Sherman-Palladino to The Hollywood Reporter. "My thing was: Always focus on what the girls are doing, and what's the story between the mother and the daughter because that's what the show is."
She said that while she knows fans are "invested in" Rory and Lorelai's love interests, "the show is about the girls."
"If neither one of them had a boyfriend in six years, it still would have been fine. In my mind, I know who the father was and I know what the baby was, but that stays in my mind," said Sherman-Palladino during the October 2025 interview.
In Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Rory has a romantic relationship with Logan, despite the fact that he's engaged. During a November 2016 interview with BUILD Series, Czuchry declined to reveal if Logan was the father of Rory's child. He did say, however, that Sherman-Palladino and her husband, Daniel Palladino, who co-created Gilmore Girls, told him the answer.
"They did tell me who is the father of that baby," said Czuchry in the interview.
He also said that he likes the ambiguity regarding Rory's child.
"I like that it's just kind of left open in that way. So I'm not going to say who the father is and what it would be like for whoever that may be. If Amy and Dan want to do that they can do it. But I like that it's left open so everybody has their own interpretations," said the actor.
