The *Dancing With the Stars *judging panel almost got through *Wicked *night without flying off the handle.
Olympic gold medalist Jordan Chiles ended up tying *Secret Lives of Mormon Wives *star Whitney Leavitt's season-high score of 39 with her pitch-perfect Rumba to the musical's touching song, "For Good." But two of the judges knocked heads about just how perfect it really was.
"Tonight has been such an amazing night, my favorite night of all seasons, ever," Carrie Ann Inaba exclaimed, after Chiles and partner Ezra Sosa presented themselves for critique. "I have to say to you, it was perfection."
Derek Hough got off to the same start, enthusing, "That routine was so stunning. The quality of the movement, like Bruno was saying, your arms, the balance, the settling in the hip — when we say be more grounded, that's what we're talking about." But Hough and Inaba found themselves at loggerheads when the former's critique started to go south.

Hough continued, "I just want to say one thing personally. You have all the motion, you have all the moves, now I want to see the *emotion*, just a little bit more."
Before he could finish his thought, Inaba piped in with a playful "na na na na na," mocking reservations she clearly didn't think needed to be expressed. "Okay," Hough said curtly. "Jordan, well done."

Inaba and Hough offered each other conciliatory smiles before the remaining judges carried on with their comments. Guest judge Jon M. Chu, director of the film adaptation of the beloved stage musical and its upcoming sequel, *Wicked: For Good*, reflected, "When I see [Cynthia Erivo] and [Ariana Grande], the big trick is that they work their butt off, and they're competitive and they make it seem so easy."
Chu revealed that he saw Chiles at the Paris Olympics in 2024, where she helped lead the American women's gymnastics team to the gold. "I saw your eyes there and tonight I saw those eyes again. You want to win this thing, I can tell."
Chiles and Sosa's deliriously high score of 39 (Hough was the only holdout 9 in a sea of 10s) certainly places her within reach of another big victory.
*Dancing With the Stars* airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+, and streams the next day on Hulu.****
