Fans of "Jurassic World Rebirth" will soon be able to enjoy the summer blockbuster in the comfort of their own homes, as the dinosaur epic will be available to stream on Peacock starting Oct 30. The movie earned $867 million at the worldwide box office over the summer.
The seventh film in the "Jurassic" series and the fourth in the current "Jurassic World" cycle, "Jurassic World Rebirth" reboots the franchise that was expected to lay dormant after 2022's "Jurassic World: Dominion." Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey star in the sequel as wholly original characters, as director Gareth Edwards makes his own foray into the franchise.

While "Rebirth" came with fresh faces in front of and behind the camera, veteran screenwriter David Koepp penned the script. Koepp wrote the original "Jurassic Park" in 1993, as well as its 1997 sequel, "The Lost World: Jurassic Park." "Rebirth" marks Koepp's first screenwriting credit on a "Jurassic" movie in 28 years, and his first collaboration with a director other than Steven Spielberg on the franchise.
Critics reacted to "Rebirth" with ambivalence. Though some praised the movie's performances and action sequences, many found its story hackneyed. As the seventh film about humans surviving dino-disasters, even the most thrilling sequences or the most well-intentioned homages to Spielberg's original work starts to feel like retreated territory.
The film released in theaters on July 2, grossing $147 million at the domestic box office across the five-day holiday weekend. This performance was on part with "Dominion," which grossed $145 million three years prior across three days, but fell short of the preceding "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" and "Jurassic World," which opened to $148 million and $208 million in 2017 and 2014, respectively.
Fortunately for Universal, the "Jurassic" films conventionally perform well on home video markets, with "Jurassic World" and "Fallen Kingdom" respectively picking up an additional $150 million and $68 million in DVD and Blu-Ray sales. While the metrics for success in streaming are undoubtedly different, the ability to watch "Rebirth" at home is likely to help both Peacock and the "Jurassic" franchise from going extinct.
