Carlisle United are considering making a shock approach to Steven Gerrard. The bottom-of-the-table League Two side sacked manager Mike Williamson on Monday morning, and Mail Sport understands that the club's American owners have raised the unlikely prospect of the Liverpool legend taking over in a desperate bid to stop them dropping out of the EFL. Gerrard, who has managed Rangers and Aston Villa, left a lucrative role with Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq last week after 18 months in charge.
