January transfer window breaks multiple records in both men's and women's football with English clubs the biggest spenders

The January transfer window set new records in both the men's and women's games, a study has revealed. The window for British clubs closed on January 30 for the women and Monday for the men. And FIFA's International Transfer Snapshot has confirmed that a total of 5,863 international transfers were made worldwide in the men's professional game in the month. This is the highest total ever for a January window, marking a 20 per cent increase from the previous record set one year ago.
