Sophie Cunningham Hopes to Join Dancing With the Stars Despite WNBA Schedule Conflicts

About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has reiterated her desire to compete on "Dancing with the Stars." Her comments came after she recently watched the show live as an audience member.

The 30-year-old previously revealed that she has been in contact with the show for the past couple of years, but scheduling conflicts have kept her from potentially taking part in the widely popular reality competition. Cunningham revisited the prospect on the latest episode of her podcast, "No Hesitation," with Drew Hanlen.

According to the 2025 WNBA Commissioner's Cup champion, this long-standing interest remains a potential off-court career move for her despite the hectic WNBA season.

"I truly do hope that I can do it one day," Cunningham said . "It gets in the way of our WNBA season. So, that's kind of my hold-up, but it's not out of the question."

The ABC series usually starts in September, which overlaps with the latter part of the WNBA regular season and the start of the playoffs.

Cunningham also recounted her memorable encounter with DWTS professional dancer Daniella Karagach during her recent trip to the show.

"She is so beautiful and just a great [expletive] dancer," the 6-foot-1 guard shared. "And she saw me, she was like, 'Oh my gosh, I'm a huge fan,' and I was like, 'I'm a huge fan of you.'

"And she goes, 'Well, come next season … come be my partner next year. You can lift me up.' And I was like, 'Oh. That's awesome.' So it was so cool. It was a really fun experience."

Cunningham, however, has more pressing matters to deal with regarding her basketball career. Her one-year deal with the Fever ends in the offseason, allowing her to enter free agency. At this point, there is no guarantee that she will be back in Indiana for the 2027 season.
