Tina Knowlesis taking notice of how similar her granddaughterBlue Ivy Carteris toBeyoncé.
On Tuesday, May 19, Tina, 72, was awarded a Gracie Award for her audiobook,Matriarch. During the event in Beverly Hills, Calif., she spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about being brought to tears at the sight ofBlue Ivy recently stepping out at the Met Gala.
At age 14, Blue Ivy is around the same age her mom was when Girl's Tyme — a Texas-based girl group with members Beyoncé, now 44,Kelly Rowland,LaTavia RobersonandLeToya Luckett— becameDestiny's Child.
“She's just like her mama because she's a huge talent,” Tina told PEOPLE of Blue Ivy. “And because she is very poised.”
“I mean, the Met Gala, I couldn't do it,” Tina continued. “And so I was like, look how poised she is on the red carpet and how she knows exactly what she wants. Yeah, it made me very proud.”
Blue Ivy is the eldest of Beyoncé andJay-Z'sthree children— Blue Ivy, as well astwins Rumi and Sir, 8 — while Tina is also a grandmother toSolange's 21-year-old son,Daniel “Julez” Smith Jr.
Despite the Met Gala's 18-and-over limit,Blue Ivyattended the event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on May 4 alongside the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer. She wore a white strapless Balenciaga gown paired with an unzipped jacket, sunglasses and silver Jimmy Choo stilettos.
"I think she looks so incredible,” Beyoncé said of Blue Ivy toVogue.

Blue Ivy's attendance came as therecord-breaking Grammy winnerattended the Met Gala for the first time in 10 years.
Beyoncé served as a co-chair for the 2026 gala along withNicole Kidman,Venus WilliamsandAnna Wintour.

Tina previously opened up about the mom-daughter duo's appearance at the event during an appearance on the3rd Hour of Today.
“I got really emotional, shed a few tears,” she admitted on May 5.
“It was kind of reminiscent,” Tina explained. “Beyoncé started her first red carpet at 15, and Blue is 14, so just seeing her out there looking confident and beautiful. It was déjà vu.”
