Newcomer actress Mae Schenk is bringing the beloved Eloise to life.
On Tuesday, May 26, Schenk was spotted in New York City wearing the character’s iconic look: a crisp white ruffled blouse, black pleated suspender skirt, knee-high socks, Mary Jane shoes, a blonde wig, and, of course, Eloise’s signature oversized red bow. Before landing the role, Schenk appeared in several productions with Oklahoma City’s Kismet Arts Studio & Theatre, includingLes Misérables,Annie JR., andMatilda JR.
The new live-actionEloiseNetflix film will be directed byAmy Sherman-Palladino, creator ofGilmore GirlsandThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Hannah Marks and Linda Woolverton. The originalEloisebooks were written by Kay Thompson and illustrated by Hilary Knight.
The movie marks Eloise’s long-awaited return to the screen for the first time since Disney’s 2003 TV specials,Eloise at the PlazaandEloise at Christmastime.

PEOPLE previously confirmed that Reynolds, 49, will also star in the Netflix adaptation alongside Schenk, playing an original villain character while also serving as a producer on the film.
The cast additionally includes Isaac Bae, Max Casella,Victor Garber, David Haig and Sally Hawkins.
At the center of the story is Eloise herself — spirited and endlessly charming. Living at the legendary Plaza Hotel with her beloved Nanny (previously played byJulie Andrews), Eloise is always ready for her next adventure.
