Nate Diaz has no plans to retire, wants Mike Perry rematch 'ASAP'

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Nate Diaz wants to run things back with Mike Perry.

After taking a TKO loss due to corner stoppage, Diaz is looking to get a rematch under the MVP banner, and he wants it soon. Diaz (21-14) and Perry (15-8) fought Saturday in the co-main event of MVP's inaugural MMA event that streamed live on Netflix from the Intuit Dome. Despite getting battered, Diaz is not looking to take any time off, and plans to start getting ready for the rematch this coming week.

"Right now, yeah, let's start that ASAP, ASAP," Diaz said at the post-fight press conference. "Heal up, and I'll start running on Monday."

Diaz and Perry had a fun, back-and-forth fight. However, Perry did do more damage, and it was reflected in the result – not to mention all over Diaz's face. He was badly cut in Round 2 and was bleeding a lot. The cageside doctor didn't allow Diaz to enter Round 3 due to the cuts he had sustained.

Diaz has been in many battles through the years, causing plenty of scar tissue. This isn't the first time he's lost by doctor's stoppage due to a cut. Although not happy about the result, Diaz is not going to protest it.

"Yeah, I was mad, but I understand," Diaz said. "I was leaking out a lot, and I knew I wasn't going to be able to get that done out there. I don't think he would have got much more done either, but I was blinded by blood on the right side."

Diaz now has 35 professional MMA fights under his belt. He's been competing since 2004. The 41-year-old was asked about how much longer he intends on fighting, and he didn't have a definite answer. What's certain is that retirement is not coming any time soon.

"The show goes on," Diaz said. "I felt the same way as when I lost when I was younger and the same as the last time. I don't have a checkout time, you know what I'm saying? That sh*t's forever. And when I do check out, I don't need to be f*cking crying about it to the f*cking media and put my gloves down in the ring. You f*cking go out into the woods and have your f*cking life then, you know what I'm saying? That's like, you've got to explain yourself why you're not fighting anymore? Do whatever the f*ck you want. But as of now, I feel like I have a long road ahead of me and a lot of sh*t to do."
