Casper follows the titular friendly ghost who befriends Christina Ricci's Kat after she moves into a haunted mansion.

The supernatural comedy hit theaters on May 26, 1995.

The film costars Bill Pullman, Cathy Moriarty, Eric Idle, and Devon Sawa.

Casper floated into theaters in May 1995, charming viewers with its story about a friendly ghost longing for a friend. Based on the Harvey Comics character, the supernatural family flick follows teenager Kat Harvey (Christina Ricci) and her widowed father, Dr. James Harvey (Bill Pullman), a paranormal therapist hired to move in and cleanse a haunted mansion.

While critics were divided at the time, Casper became a box office hit and earned its place as a nostalgic favorite for '90s kids.

Now, three decades later, Casper is ready to introduce a whole new generation to the titular ghost. Not only is it now streaming on Netflix, but Casper is returning to theaters this October in celebration of its 30th anniversary.

To mark the milestone, we're catching up with the cast of Casper and seeing where they are now.

During a 2022 appearance on the WTF with Marc Maron podcast, Ricci admitted she's not proud of her Casper performance. "If you actually watch Casper, I'm terrible in it," she said. "People get so upset when I say that. Because I'm like, 'No, it's a wonderful movie.' ... It's a childhood treasure to people, but I am terrible in it."

She continued, "I just don't think I tried very hard, to tell you the truth. Embarrassingly, I have to say, I don't think I tried as hard as maybe I should have."
