The View co-hosts trade bodies in a new Halloween skit inspired by Freakier Friday

The View co-hosts are having a freaky Halloween.

ABC's hit political daytime talk show may have ditched the elaborate costumes for its annual Oct. 31 episode, but that doesn't mean it's ignoring the fun of spooky season. Like last year, The View will open with a pre-taped skit in which its co-hosts celebrate the holiday in a playful way.

PEOPLE can exclusively debut the clip. Dubbed "A Freaky View," it takes its inspiration from the hit Lindsay Lohan-Jamie Lee Curtis movie Freakier Friday by imagining what would happen if The View's co-hosts switched bodies.

"I have to admit that I sometimes fantasize about switching roles with you guys, and like, what the world would be like, just for a day," Sara Haines says at the top of the clip, while talking to Sunny Hostin.

"I don't like that," Hostin responds, shooting down Haines' idea.

But it's too late. Seconds later, the women feel what Haines initially thinks is "an earthquake in New York City." When the shaking stops, they've switched bodies (and outfits) — and Hostin is not too pleased.

"Sara, what did you do?" Haines, as Hostin, asks, mimicking Hostin's tone.

"I didn't do anything," says Hostin, as Haines, going for a more naive, innocent take. "It's not that bad though, right?"

"I am a former prosecutor, you do not want to mess with me!" Haines snaps back.

Over in Joy Behar's dressing room, she's swapped spots with a pregnant Alyssa Farah Griffin.

"I'm a nona, I can't be pregnant," Farah Griffin, mimicking Behar's Brooklyn accent, says. "And by the way though, if I am pregnant, this baby is going to be a democrat!"

Brian Teta and Ana Navarro in 'The View' 2025 Halloween episode

Ana Navarro's swap came with View executive producer and Behind the Table podcast host Brian Teta. In the skit, he sits in Navarro's dressing room chair petting her dog Cha-Cha and fielding calls from Navarro's famous friends like Gloria Estefan and Eva Longoria — until he glances at himself in the mirror.

"¡Oh, Dios mío! This is insanity! It's intolerable! It's indecent! How am I supposed to go clubbing with Bad Bunny looking like this?"

"How am I supposed to do the podcast looking like this," a flustered Navarro, as Teta, shouts back. "What will the Bri-Guys think?"

The shenanigans continue until Haines, Hostin and Teta decide to head to Whoopi Goldberg's office for help — only to discover that Curtis is at Goldberg's desk.

"Jamie Lee Curtis? What are you doing here?" Hostin asks, before Haines recognizes the Oscar winner just might be the answer to their problems. "You're in Freakier Friday! You can tell us what to do!"

"Oh, I'm not Jamie Lee Curtis. But I can tell you one thing: you in danger, girl!" she responds, quoting Goldberg's line from 1990's Ghost.

The View stopped its traditional Halloween episode last year, blaming the decision on the 2024 presidential election.

"This year, because it's only a few days before the election and we need to be live, the hosts are not going to dress up for Halloween," Teta said on the podcast. "If you're quiet, you can hear a section of our audience screaming, very upset right now."

"I'll try to bring it back next year. The problem is, those shows are a huge undertaking, we have to do them on tape. Part of what our show has become and what it is right now, we can't be on tape three days before the election," Teta said, Behar — his guest that day — adding, "It's too important."

Previously, Teta praised The View's Halloween episodes to PEOPLE.

"The Halloween show is a treasured View tradition since the show began and it means a lot to our audience," he said in 2023, ahead of the show's episode honoring the 100th anniversary of Disney. "It's an incredible amount of work but with everything going on in the world it's so important to take a minute and have a little fun — not to mention showcase the incredible talent of our View crew."

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
