Quinn, 31, has fueled speculation about a possible return in recent months
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things kicks off Nov. 26 with Volume 1
Sorry, Hellfire Club members: there's no coming back for Eddie Munson.
Joseph Quinn joined Stranger Things in season 4 as the D&D-loving high schooler, but sacrificed himself in the Upside Down to save Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Robin (Maya Hawke).
As the long-awaited premiere of the fifth and final season of the show approaches (Vol. 1 drops Nov. 26), the minds behind the sci-fi thriller have confirmed that the 31-year-old star does not make an appearance.
"No, sadly, RIP. He's fully under that ground," co-creator Matt Duffer told Empire of the beloved character.
"I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people!" Duffer added. "But no, he's dead."

Matt, 41, who created the series with his brother Ross, 41, also commented on how crazy Quinn's schedule has become since he made his debut in the Netflix series in 2022.
"Joe is so busy anyway that everyone should know he's not coming back. He's shot like five movies since [the show]!" Matt told the outlet. "When the hell has he got time to come and shoot Stranger Things?"
Quinn has openly teased fans with the possibility of his return ever since season 5 began filming. Last June, he told Entertainment Tonight that the "chances are high" that he'd "pop down" to the set.
"I love those guys! I'd love to say hello," he said.

"I'm sure they're working very hard to land the plane. It's been a long time that they've been working on that, so I'm really delighted that they're kind of getting towards the end, and they're having a nice time," Quinn said of the show's final season, which he has "no doubts" will be great.
"I'm sure they're gonna deliver it in a pretty epic way."

Stranger Things season 5 Volume 1 premieres on Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. ET on Netflix, followed by Volume 2 on Dec. 25, and the finale on Dec. 31.
