After exiting "Saturday Night Live," Ego Nwodim is keeping plenty busy — including with the second season of her award-winning interview podcast "Thanks Dad," set to premiere next week.
"Thanks Dad With Ego Nwodim" has joined iHeartMedia and Will Ferrell's Big Money Players Network, which features a slate of comedy podcasts. Season 2 debuts Tuesday, Oct. 28. "Thanks Dad With Ego Nwodim" will feature weekly episodes released on Tuesdays, available on the iHeartRadio app and all major podcast platforms. Video episodes will be available on YouTube.

In each episode, Ego invites a special guest to dive into personal stories, family dynamics and identity. In the premiere episode of season two, Nwodim will sit down with Heidi Gardner — who also recently left the cast of "SNL" — to discuss becoming best friends at "Saturday Night Live," as well as Gardner's mom's wacky ex-boyfriends, their love of Jack Black and … FaceTiming naked in the shower. Other guests in the upcoming season include Tamron Hall and Miguel.
In her convo with Gardner, Nwodim recalls that the two shared a dressing room on "SNL" during Nwodim's first year on the show. "It made us close quick, but it doesn't have to work that way," Nwodim says. "It could also not make you close… but I'm so grateful we got so close and we got to share that year. Because I wonder if we would have been as close as we are if we didn't have that." Says Gardner, "We would have figured it out."
Nwodim's "Thanks Dad" was previously produced and distributed by comedy podcast network Headgum. (Earlier this month, Headgum laid off about 30% of its employees.) Season 1 of her podcast featured guests including Andy Cohen, Randall Park, Kyle Mooney and Bill Burr and received a 2025 Ambie Award for best interview podcast.
"I'm so thrilled to be partnering with iHeartPodcasts, Will Ferrell and Big Money Players for Season 2 of 'Thanks Dad'!" Nwodim said. "This season, I'm speaking with a broader range of guests, while staying true to the heart of the podcast — to connect, inspire and bring some joy."
Following the announcement last month of her departure from "SNL" after seven seasons, Nwodim said that the venerated NBC show "is always meant to be a stepping stone. There's so many ideas that I need to have time to create. I'm looking forward to doing that. So directing, more writing in a different capacity."
In addition to "Thanks Dad," Nwodim is making her off-Broadway debut this fall with a one-woman comedy show at Lincoln Center. During her tenure on "Saturday Night Live," the actress and comedian created viral moments including "Miss Eggy" and "Lisa From Temecula," establishing herself as a groundbreaking voice in comedy and earning NAACP Image Awards nominations in both 2024 and 2025 for her work on the show. She recently wrapped production on Matt Spicer's "Little Brother," the upcoming Netflix comedy film opposite John Cena, Eric Andre Michelle Monaghan, Christopher Meloni, Ego Nwodim and Sherry Cola..
In 2021, Nwodim was recognized by Variety as part of the New York Women's Impact Report for her trailblazing work across comedy, TV and media.
Founded by Ferrell (who is also a veteran of "SNL") and iHeartMedia, Big Money Players Network shows include "The Ron Burgundy Podcast," "Las Culturistas With Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang," "My Momma Told Me," "Straightiolab With George Civeris and Sam Taggart," "Bombing with Eric Andre" and "MESS With Sydnee Washington and Marie Faustin." All BMP podcasts are executive produced by Ferrell and iHeartMedia and distributed by iHeartPodcasts.
