Phil Lester is getting candid about his first impression of boyfriend Dan Howell.On the most recent episode of their new podcast, HARD LAUNCH with Dan and Phil, the YouTubers revisited how they met in 2009.The pair first interacted online; however, their first in-person meeting took place in Manchester, England, when Howell took the train up to meet his internet friend.While chatting with Howell on the podcast's Oct. 27 episode, Lester admitted that he thought he was the victim of a scam when he first went to meet Howell at the train station."I completely thought you catfished me when we first met," Lester said, laughingly.Going on, he justified his reasoning for being suspicious, saying that "Dan was the last person to get off the train."

"Who gets off the train last?" he laughed."If you get onto the train first at the station because you don't wanna do all that walking, you're gonna have to do a dramatic walk down the platform later," Howell explained."If you're meeting your mysterious lover off the Internet, don't you want them to do the longest walk down a train?" he laughed."No!" Lester responded.Howell then shared his first impression of Lester, joking that he thought he was wearing a wig."So the first time I saw you, I was trying to make eye contact, and I just couldn't stop staring at his head," he continued, laughing.The pair's joint podcast comes just two weeks after the two content creators sat down to address rumors of their longtime partnership. In the video, they confirmed that they've been dating since 2009.

Later on in the video, the pair shared more details about how their relationship came to be, with Howell admitting, "We fell into it hard and fast in 2009 and here we are almost 16 years later."In June 2019, Howell came out as gay in a YouTube video posted to his channel, with Lester posting a similar video to his own personal channel later the same month.In his video, Howell did disclose that the pair had been romantically linked at the beginning of their relationship, but did not comment on the current status of the pair's relationship at that time.
Of their relationship, Lester continued on in the recent video, "No, it's not always perfect. Don't get it into your head that we are the ideal of human partnerships.""We have had ups and downs like anybody," Howell added. "We have lived a thousand lifetimes of a normal person's partnership and I have no idea why we've survived."
