Hulu has pleaded guilty ... to wanting more *Prison Break.*

** has confirmed that the streamer has officially greenlit a *Prison Break* reboot. The new show — set in the same world as the original Fox drama but with an all-new cast and story — has been ordered to series.

The new *Prison Break* will center on Cassidy (Emily Browning), an ex-soldier turned corrections officer who takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she'll go for someone she loves.

The reboot also stars Drake Rodger as Tommy, Lukas Gage as Jackson, Clayton Cardenas as Michael "Ghost," JR Bourne as Junior, Georgie Flores as Andrea, and Myles Bullock as Darius "Red."

The reboot comes from Elgin James (*Mayans M.C*.), who serves as showrunner, executive producer, writer, and director of the pilot. Dawn Olmstead, who executive produced the original series, returns as executive producer, along with *Prison Break* creator Paul Scheuring, Marty Adelstein, and Neal Moritz.

*Prison Break* originally ran for four seasons on Fox from 2005 to 2009. It starred Dominic Purcell as Lincoln Burrows, a man sentenced to death for a crime he didn't commit, and Wentworth Miller as his brother, Michael Scofield, who hatches a plan to break him out of prison by tattooing the blueprints of the building on his body. Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Sarah Wayne Callies, and Rockmond Dunbar also starred.

The series won a Golden Globe for Best Television Series — Drama in its debut season, and consistently was a hit in ratings.

The stars returned for a revived fifth season in 2017, and Fox was in development for another installment before revealing in 2019 that those plans were scrapped. The series also spawned a TV movie, *The Final Break*, and a short-lived spinoff, *Prison Break: Proof of Innocence*, which was exclusively available on mobile phones.

Miller, an out gay man, previously declared that he was done with reprising his *Prison Break* role as well as playing any more "straight characters."

"I'm out. Of PB. Officially," the actor wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post. "Not [because] of static on social media (although that has centered the issue). I just don't want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told). No more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons... I understand this is disappointing. I'm sorry."

Responding to the post, his onscreen brother Purcell voiced his support: "Glad you have made this decision for your health and your truth."

The new *Prison Break* will premiere on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ internationally. All episodes of the original show are available on Hulu.
