An upcoming Chris Brown concert, scheduled to take place in Memphis, Tennessee, has been cancelled two weeks ahead of showtime.
Ticketmaster posted a cancellation notice on Saturday, Oct. 4, for the upcoming Oct. 18 show, initially slated to take place at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. The notice cited logistical production-related issues as the reason.
Oak View Group, which was helping to promote the event, issued this statement confirming all ticket holders will be refunded.
"While the renovations at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium continue as planned and on schedule, it has become clear they will also prevent the show from delivering on the exceptional production experience for fans," the statement reads.
According to Ticketmaster, refunds will be issued via the customers' original method of payment.
USA TODAY contacted Brown's representatives for comment on Saturday, Oct. 4, but has not received a response.
Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium undergoing renovations
Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, where the Memphis Tigers play their home football games, is in the midst of a $220 million renovation.
Brown's "Breezy Bowl XX" tour would have been the first major concert at the stadium since 1997, when rock band U2 played at what was then the Liberty Bowl.
Capacity during the renovation of Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium is 33,691, according to a University of Memphis news release.
What other artists are on Chris Brown's tour?
Brown is the tour's headlining artist, with singer/rappers Jhene Aiko and Bryson Tiller also on the bill. The current leg of the tour began on Friday, Oct. 3, in Atlanta, with the final shows scheduled for Oct. 16 at the Superdome in New Orleans and Oct. 18 at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis.
The R&B star, who has released 11 albums in the past 20 years, previously performed in Memphis at FedExForum in 2011.
On May 15, the hip-hop singer was arrested in London and charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm in what prosecutors called an "unprovoked attack" at a nightclub in 2023. Eventually, that month, a London court granted him bail after he vowed to pay a $6.7 million bond.
He returned to London the following month with two shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 21 and June 22.
