After months of rumors, Jennifer Lopez poignantly filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on August 20, 2024—which was also their second wedding anniversary.
After eloping in Las Vegas in July 2022, Lopez and Affleck married in front of family and friends on August 20, 2022.
Lopez and Affleck's divorce was finalized in January 2025.
August 20 is no doubt a bittersweet day for Jennifer Lopez—in 2022, it's the day she married Ben Affleck in front of family and friends at his estate in Georgia. It's also the day, in 2024, when she filed for divorce from him exactly two years later.
In 2025, August 20 sees Lopez fresh off of a summer tour and, according to a source speaking to People, the performer has "come a long way" since what had to be an awful August 20 one year ago.

"She's been having the time of her life this summer," the insider said, adding that Lopez "loved connecting with fans all over the world. The tour was amazing. It's been a great focus for her. She's been doing what she really enjoys."

On August 12, Lopez wrote on Instagram, "Last night was our final show of the summer, and I want to thank every single one of you who came out. This was the most beautiful, happy, and free summer…and my only wish is that you feel as joyful as you made me feel every night. I love you."
It's a far cry from the summer of 2024, which saw Lopez cancel a planned summer tour as she dealt with personal issues that culminated in the August 20 divorce filing. Lopez and Affleck's divorce was finalized in January of this year.
Also ahead for Lopez in 2025 is a planned Las Vegas residency and the premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman, a project she said she'd been "waiting for this moment my whole life."

As busy as she is, one aspect of her life Lopez isn't planning to make time for anytime soon? Marriage. Onstage in Bilbao, Spain on July 15, Lopez spotted a fan in the crowd holding a sign that read, "J Lo, marry me?"
"I think I'm done with that," she told the audience, per a fan's video shared on X. "I've tried that a few times."
