At 80, Helen Mirren seems to be working more than ever, but she is considering retirement.

"I mean, sure, I love to not work. Don't get me wrong; I love not working, and especially now more than earlier, I feel I've earned it; I deserve it," the actress told The Hollywood Reporter with a laugh on Thursday, August 14.

While Mirren's statements may incite worry in some, she is not quite ready to turn down compelling offers that come her way.

"But no, I mean, if there's a project that I want to do, and if I have the mental and physical capability to do it, I'll do it," she said, adding that a "very radical, interesting piece of theater" is still on her bucket list.

Mirren's schedule has been packed with buzzworthy projects lately. Earlier this year, she starred on two Paramount+ series, returning for season 2 of 1923 and debuting the first season of MobLand. Next, Mirren can be seen in The Thursday Murder Club on Netflix on August 28. Plus, she's already wrapped filming on two more projects titled Goodbye June and Switzerland.

As one of the busiest actresses in Hollywood, Mirren is at times overwhelmed by her workload, but she prefers to stay booked up.

"Sometimes it's a bit of a car crash of projects, and they sort of pile up," she explained. "And you have very little time in between, which actually is a good thing. You get into a work mode, and you just live in that work mode for maybe five months, six months. So it's been great, actually — all very interesting, very different projects."

Decades into her career, Mirren described her approach as similar to that of her Thursday Murder Club and MobLand costar, Pierce Brosnan.

"We just work in the same way, the two of us, we get on with it," she noted. "We don't make a fuss."
