A League One footballer started a match for his club on Tuesday night - just hours after pleading guilty to causing the death of a cyclist. Lucas Akins, 36, started in Mansfield Town's 0-0 draw with Wigan Athletic. On Tuesday morning, Akins admitted that he had caused the death of cyclist Adrian Daniel by careless or inconsiderate driving. Mr Daniel died aged 33 in March 2022, 10 days after being hit by Akins' Mercedes G350 in Netherton, a village near Huddersfield.
