Michael van Gerwen has suffered a surprise defeat by Irish amateur Michael Flynn in the Netherlands in one of the biggest-ever darts upsets. The three-time world champion was knocked out of the first round of the third Players Championship after shockingly losing by 6-4 on Monday. Despite an average of 92.41 - significantly lower than Van Gerwen's 97.01 - the 32-year-old maintained his composure in the crucial ending of the game.
